Sofitel St James London –

Sofitel is a luxurious, 5-star hotel located in the prominent area of St James, London, with a short walk to Piccadilly Circus and London’s Theatreland. The hotel fuses traditional British design with contemporary French detailing, and the rich colours and high ceilings of the lobby recreate the atmosphere of a gentleman’s club. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is served at Brasserie Roux, a classic French brasserie and a pianist or harpist plays during afternoon tea, an elegant touch to this delicate hotel.

Rooms are decorated in rich, dark colours and fabrics with thick carpets and elaborate furniture. Some guests have said however, that the rooms, although perfectly well equipped, often seem rather small and dark.

Club Quarters, Trafalgar Square –

The 4-star hotel, Club Quarters, is located in Trafalgar Square and is a recently restored Victorian hotel with a striking marble lobby that was first built in 1887. Everything you will need is within walking distance, with the Playhouse Theatre only a 5 to 10 minute walk away. It is situated on the River Thames with the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre a pleasant stroll away.

Rooms here are spacious and well equipped, with free internet access and plasma TV screens. High ceilings and an old-fashioned feel to the guestrooms make a stay here very pleasant, and it may be said that this is one of London’s best-kept secrets!

Citadines Aparthotel, Trafalgar –

Citadines Aparthotel in Trafalgar Square is situated across from Whitehall Gardens, Central London in a tree-lined street. Location is key to this aparthotel, as it is nearby to Trafalgar Square which is home to the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery, as well as the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and of course, the West End theatre district. Citadines is housed in a 1930s building which is also shares with the Royal Commonwealth Society Club.

The guestrooms in Citadines include fully equipped kitchens and satellite televisions, and although there is a breakfast option available, many guests often shop in the nearby Tesco’s and cook their own food in their kitchens, if on a budget.
